Deviation Actions
After months of mentioning it but never taking any action, us admins have decided to hold a contest. It will have three available categories to enter in, with a first, second and third place for each category. This leaves nine potential winners.
Contest Rules:
- In the description of your entry, please specify which category your piece is meant to enter in.
- No mature content
-Deadline is the twentieth of March, 2014. Due to only having one entry on March 15th, the deadline is now the thirtieth of April. Entries will be judged from March twenty-first to March twenty-third.
- You may submit two entries; however, you may only win once.
- Submit your entry/entries to the contest entry folder: accurate-hetalia-ocs.deviantar…
- Anyone may enter (including non-members), so long as they are not one of the prize donors. If an admin wishes to enter, they may not enter for a category that they are judging.
- OCs must be by whoever is entering. You may not use another's OC as the main part of your entry; however, with permission from the OC's creator, you may include them in the entry as a side character. Or, if you are entering into the historical pairings category, they may be one of the two in the pairing.
- The piece must contain clear, obvious effort. Fan fiction must have proper grammar and spelling, and art cannot be sloppy.
Category Two: Cultural/Traditional Aspects
Illustrate (no writing for this category) a cultural or traditional aspect, celebration, et cetera of your OC. For example, draw them in a traditional dress, or dancing to a traditional dance; so on and so forth. The entries will be judged on whatever has been chosen to culturally or traditionally represent your OC, as well as portrayal of this aspect.
Prizes:
First prize:

- Colored chibi (from ms-regionnaire)
- Colored half-body, one character (from pressf)

Group Overhaul!
Exactly as the title says! With my year-long streak of fandom inactivity, I've allowed this group to die down—and have recently come to the conclusion that its original purpose was horrendously flawed. I created this group because I was tired of tragically inaccurate Hetalia OCs; and when creating the group, the main purpose in mind was showcasing OCs that are already accurate. However, that does little except create cliques and bias, and I've decided instead to revamp this group with the purpose of educating the Hetalia community, not dividing it.
Now, dusting things off around here will be a slow process; the gallery needs to be clea
Contest deadline to be delayed
At the suggestion of melondramatics (https://www.deviantart.com/melondramatics), the deadline of the History and Culture Contest will be delayed to April 30th, due to only having one entry five days from the original deadline. Please message an admin about an extension if this will be an issue, which it hopefully not be—the contest has been open since mid-January.
Friendly reminder
The quality of your art does not make your OC any more or less accurate; in fact, don't even worry about the art (if you really are concerned about the art and nobody can change your mind, just try to make it look presentable. It doesn't have to be amazing). The quality of the art and the quality of the OC are, most of the time, completely unrelated in every way. If an author cannot illustrate his writings, does that make him or her any less of a skilled writer? No.
So you may ask why this has been brought up; well, lately, there's been this Tumblr blog, fuckhetaliaocs, that goes around bashing Hetalia OCs just because they aren't drawn in t

Have you/your OC been denied membership to this group? If so, it is probably because your OC is very inaccurate at the moment, but everything takes time! Here are some tips on how to redo/improve your OC that we admins have discussed and I have composed into a single journal in order to aid you.:D After you have fixed some aspects of your OC in which there are issues, you can submit if for evaluation and then re-submit a join request.
Let's get started, shall we?
Appearance, Ethnicity, History
